Capturing the beauty with his photography

Photography is a completely creative profession and having been in the field for 20-plus years, Prasad Singarapu realised that experimenting with his techniques makes him stand apart from the crowd while giving him professional satisfaction.

It’s pure passion for photography that made Prasad pick up the camera. “My father used to run a photo studio in the city and I grew up looking at different cameras. Naturally, I developed a keen interest in the art, and started using the camera when I was in class VIII. I used to capture the nature with my camera and even won a prize at the district-level competition, which gave me more confidence about my work,” shares Prasad, who owns Leaf The Studio in the city.

Prasad used to attend workshops on photography but wasn’t really satisfied with the information he got there or the techniques taught. “Later, I went to Iris Satyam garu — he’s my guru and mentor,” shares the photographer.

“No person can sustain in this field without passion. I realised that there were few photographers who can teach for free. My struggle to find good classes and learning opportunities made me start my YouTube channel ‘Prasad Pictorials’. I keep sharing the techniques of photography in these video tutorials, which, I hope, would be useful for many aspirants,” he adds.

Prasad worked for the small screen and the big screen too. Shows like Jackpot, and Kabadi gave Prasad good recognition on small screen. Later, he also worked for the movie Thupaki Ramudu, and he claims to be the only photographer who went on a South African tour to do a photo shoot for celebrities from the Telugu industry. “The tour got me closer to celebrities, and it was a good platform to showcase my work,” he says.

“Lighting is the heart of a camera. So, I make sure I carry different kinds of lights to the sets and location to get the best pictures,” says Prasad, who recently made videos using dhoop sticks to give a smoky background. This also got good viewership on YouTube.

Prasad plans to upload more videos on his YouTube channel to help passionate photographers learn the nuances of the art. “Not every person can afford to attend classes; at least my videos would make them learn something useful to them in future,” concludes this pro in wedding photography.
